Study Finds Majority of Gravelly Point Visitors Enjoy Low-Flying Planes In Order to "Feel Something"

As a part of an ongoing study on locals’ attitudes toward nearby recreation areas, the Virginia State Park Service released new findings Friday that concluded most visitors to Gravelly Point enjoyed the low-flying planes in order to feel something. “Almost 85% of visitors to Gravelly Point reported their motivation to patronize the park came from a need to jog themselves out of the minutiae of everyday life,” said VA Park Service researched Tad Bart, noting the feeling of imminent danger at the park really added to the whole ambiance. “Generally speaking, the chief desire among attendees was to feel alive for a single moment in their sick, sad lives.” Bart went on to outline one exception to the studies findings: young toddlers obsessed with aircraft.
