 While increasing gun violence has ravaged neighborhoods in Southwest DC including the murder of children, residents rarely get media attention. “ I never really cared about the gun violence in Southwest DC, but in my affluent most White neighborhood? I’m horrified,” said Elaine Clairense, a 24-year-old accountant. “I mean if I can’t go out and eat an overpriced hamburger, I can’t even imagine the loss.”
