Cap Hill Couple Announces Pregnancy by Making Fetus' LinkedIn Profile

“I'd like to add you to my professional network. Let's grab a coffee on June 3rd when I'm born!”

A Capitol Hill couple had an innovative way to announce to their friends, family – and colleagues – they are expecting: they created a fully completed LinkedIn profile for their fetus.

“I just thought, what if I could start building my baby’s professional network now?” explained father-to-be Ryan Richmond. “She could get a real leg up on climbing the career ladder or getting into Harvard by making the right connections today.”

Baby Richmond, as she’s known on the social network and job-hunting site, has 189 connections so far. Her experience – which dates back about six months – includes developing internal organs and avid listening to Baby Mozart. “We want to do everything we can to get her the best job possible,” explains mom-to-be Hailey Richmond.

It’s not going over great with everyone, though. “Weird,” “creepy,” and “cringe” were a few of the descriptions of the effort by contacts who ignored the LinkedIn connection request and wished to remain anonymous.

The fetus did not respond to multiple in-person requests for comment, but we look forward to working for her in about 25 more years.
